# Sorbet in Pakistan

Get paid by clients abroad and withdraw to Pakistan in PKR, as a regular remittance.

Whether you run a software house, an agency or a services business, or you work independently, Sorbet lets you get paid by clients anywhere in the world and withdraw to a Pakistani bank account or mobile wallet in rupees, usually within minutes. The money arrives as a **standard home remittance**, so your bank never sees anything crypto-related.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Trusted by over 8,000 transacting users** for cross-border payments and remittances to Pakistan.
{% endhint %}

## What you can do

* **Get foreign accounts for your business**: receive USD, EUR, GBP and AED from clients like a local, with account details in your name
* **Send invoices** that clients abroad can pay by bank transfer or in USDC, without a Sorbet account
* **Deposit stablecoins**, USDC or USDT, into your Sorbet account
* **Withdraw to Pakistan in PKR**, to a local bank account or mobile wallet held by an individual
* **Pay contractors and suppliers internationally** in 75 countries

## How it works

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Sign up

Create your account at [mysorbet.io](https://mysorbet.io/) and choose a business or individual account. It takes a couple of minutes.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Get verified

Businesses verify with their **NTN** and company documents; individuals with their **CNIC** or passport and a live selfie. See [Getting verified in Pakistan](#getting-verified-in-pakistan) below.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Get paid

Share your USD, EUR, GBP or AED account details with your client, [send an invoice](/sorbet/using-sorbet/send-invoices.md), or deposit USDC or USDT.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add your Pakistani bank account

Go to **Recipients** and add the bank account or mobile wallet you want to withdraw to.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Withdraw in PKR

Send the funds to your account. Rupees usually arrive **in real time**, and always within one business day.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Exchange rates

Our rates are typically **within about 1 PKR of the Google market rate**. The rate you see before you confirm is the rate you get. A small FX spread is already included in that rate, so there's no separate FX charge on top.

Check the [live rate on our website](https://mysorbet.io/) any time before you transfer.

## How the payment shows up at your bank

Your withdrawal is sent by our banking partners as a **regular home remittance** in PKR:

* It lands in your account like any other inward remittance from abroad
* Your bank won't see any stablecoin or crypto activity
* Your bank can issue a **PRC (Proceeds Realisation Certificate)** against the payment, if you're eligible

## Limits and fees

## Getting verified in Pakistan

Pakistan is a **High-tier** country for our banking partners, so every application is reviewed by a person rather than approved automatically. Most are approved. It just takes a little longer: **up to a day** for individuals and **up to a week** for businesses.

The good news: you can verify with the documents you already have in Pakistan. Here's what to keep ready.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Individuals & freelancers" %}

### Your ID

Verify with your **CNIC** (both sides) or your **Pakistani passport**. Make sure it isn't expired.

When asked for your tax ID, enter your **CNIC number** (13 digits, e.g. `35202-1234567-1`), exactly as it's printed on the card.

You'll also take a **live selfie** in the app. Take it live, not a photo of a photo.

### Proof of address (if we ask for it)

Any one of these, in your name, issued in the **last 90 days** and showing your current home address:

* **Bank statement** from any Pakistani bank: HBL, Meezan, UBL, MCB, Bank Alfalah, Allied, Faysal, Standard Chartered and others
* **Electricity bill**: LESCO, K-Electric, IESCO, PESCO, MEPCO, FESCO, GEPCO, HESCO or QESCO
* **Gas bill**: SNGPL (Sui Northern) or SSGC (Sui Southern)
* **Internet or landline bill**: PTCL, Nayatel, StormFiber and others
* A **government letter**, or your current **rent agreement**

{% hint style="info" %}
**Bill in your father's or landlord's name?** Upload it together with your rent agreement, or use a bank statement that shows the same address in your name.

**Living abroad on a Pakistani CNIC or passport?** Proof of address is always required. Upload a recent bank statement, utility bill or tenancy contract from the country you live in (for example a DEWA bill or Ejari in the UAE).
{% endhint %}

### Source of funds

Because Pakistan is High-tier, you'll answer a few short questions: what the account is for, your expected monthly volume, your occupation and where your money comes from. If we need proof, any of these works:

* **Salary slips** or an **employment / experience letter** from your employer
* **Bank statement** showing your salary or client payments coming in
* **Freelance earnings**: Upwork, Fiverr, Payoneer or Toptal statements, or invoices to your clients
* Your latest **FBR income tax return**, if you file

{% hint style="success" %}
**Freelancer with no registered business?** Sign up as an **individual**, not a business. Your CNIC is all you need to start.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Businesses" %}

### Your business tax ID

Use your **NTN** (National Tax Number) from **FBR**. Download your NTN registration certificate from **FBR IRIS** and keep it ready.

### Registration documents

Upload the documents that match how your business is registered:

| If you are a…                        | Upload                                                                                                                                                               |
| ------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Private Limited / SMC-Pvt** (SECP) | SECP **Certificate of Incorporation**, **Memorandum & Articles of Association**, latest **Form A** (shareholders) and **Form 29** (directors) |
| **Public Limited** (SECP) | SECP Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum & Articles of Association, latest Form A and Form 29 |
| **LLP** (SECP) | SECP **Certificate of Registration of LLP** and your **LLP agreement** |
| **Partnership / AOP** | **Registrar of Firms** registration certificate and your registered **partnership deed** |
| **Sole proprietor** | **FBR NTN certificate** showing your business name, plus any one of: Chamber of Commerce membership certificate, **PSEB** registration, or trade / municipal licence |

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Directors aren't the same as owners.** We need a document that shows **who owns the business and their percentage** (for example Form A or your shareholder register), covering 100% of ownership. A list of directors alone isn't enough.
{% endhint %}

### Owners and directors

Every person who owns **25% or more**, and every director or authorised signatory, completes a quick verification with their **CNIC or passport** and a live selfie, the same as an individual.

### Proof of business address

Issued in the **last 90 days**, showing the address you operate from:

* **Utility bill** for your office: LESCO, K-Electric, IESCO, PESCO, MEPCO, SNGPL, SSGC, PTCL and others
* **Business bank statement** from any Pakistani bank
* A letter from **FBR** or **SECP**, or your current **office rent agreement**

Renting your office and the bill is in your landlord's name? Upload the bill **together with** your rent agreement. Virtual offices and PO boxes aren't accepted.

### Source of funds and what you do

* **Source of funds:** business bank statements showing client payments, audited or management accounts, your FBR tax return, or investment / shareholder agreements if you're funded
* **Proof of business activity:** invoices to clients, signed contracts or SOWs, your **PSEB** certificate, Upwork or Fiverr agency statements, or bills of lading if you export goods

You'll also write three short answers (**200 to 1,000 characters each**): what your business does, where your funds come from, and what you'll use Sorbet for. Be specific: name your type of clients, the countries they're in and your typical invoice size.

{% hint style="info" %}
Because Pakistan is High-tier, we may also ask for a **list of directors**, an **ownership chart** and your **financial statements**. Having them ready speeds up your review.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

### Tips to get approved first time

* Upload clear photos or PDFs: whole document in frame, no glare, both sides of your CNIC
* Type your name and CNIC number exactly as printed on the card
* Use SECP or FBR downloads (or certified true copies), not a photocopy of a photocopy
* Keep your expected monthly volume realistic and in line with your bank statements

Full document lists are on [Verify your identity](/sorbet/getting-started/verification.md).

## Frequently asked questions

<details>

<summary>Is Sorbet safe and regulated?</summary>

Sorbet is a financial technology company, not a bank, and doesn't hold your money. Your accounts, payments and conversions are provided by regulated partners that hold:

* **Money transmitter licences** in 32 US states and the District of Columbia
* **Electronic money institution** and **crypto-asset service provider** authorisations from Luxembourg's financial regulator (CSSF), for the EU
* **Money Services Business** registration with **FINTRAC** in Canada

Every account is verified before it can move money, and over 8,000 people already use Sorbet for cross-border payments and remittances. See [Who We Are & Our Partners](/sorbet/legal/who-are-we.md) for more.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need to understand crypto to use Sorbet?</summary>

No. Your clients pay you by normal bank transfer, and you withdraw rupees to your bank. Stablecoins move the money in the background, but you never have to touch them.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How long does a withdrawal take?</summary>

Usually a few minutes. In rare cases, such as a bank compliance check, it can take up to one business day.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can my business withdraw to our company bank account?</summary>

Not yet. PKR payouts can only go to an account held by an individual. To pay a director, employee or contractor, add them as a recipient and send them a payout.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you have a mobile app?</summary>

Our iOS and Android apps are both in **closed beta** and coming soon. Follow our social pages for the launch announcement. For now, you can use everything in Sorbet from your browser at [mysorbet.io](https://mysorbet.io/).
